Our family is like the branches
On an old but sturdy tree
The leaves resemble people
That make up our ancestry
The past has not been easy
And it could have made it fall
But the roots are cemented firmly
For this tree to stand so tall
As time goes by it's certain
That the leaves will wither and wilt
but the new branches of the tree will thrive
On foundations they have built
Together we are stronger It isn't hard to see
That every leaf is needed to make this family tree

One Member’s Story

I happened to make my Tower Family connection, somewhere about 2001. As I started researching my paternal grandmother (Laura Josephine Tower), little did I know what I was about to discover about her ancestors.

There was a quite a mass of Tower genealogical information already available online. But, I wasn’t able to make that direct connection with what little information I had on her.

However, I uncovered a phone number and contact information for the TGS, Inc. then president Lester Tower.
So, I took a chance and placed phone call to him. I felt a bit foolish asking him, are you related?
Without hesitation he said yes! You are related, and I know who your are, AND there are other Tower relatives living in your area! WOW!
Then he put me in touch with multitudes of newly realized relatives. They shared with me loads of compiled data, memories and information on my family line, all the way back to John Tower (1), born in 1609.
I am forever grateful to those fellow Tower relatives who so freely shared the Tower photos, information and data with me.

This family tree is in full bloom, busting out with a very heritage, and unique history. Despite my compliments, the complementation of the Tower genealogical data is far from being done. If you recall, John Tower (1) and his wife Margaret Ibrook, had ten children! There is plenty of researching yet to be done, relatives to discover, photos unturned.

  1. How do I find if I am related. My name is Bruce Tower, I live in Redmond Washington. My father was Lewis Ralston Tower, Oxford NY and several addresses in NJ, his father was Ralston Tower Oxford NY. Ralston had a brother named Clark Tower also of Oxford NY

    • HI Bruce, While I design the TGS website, and act as a board member, I don’t have access to the plethora of digitized /electronic Tower Genealogy. I will research my hard copies and my personal Tower data, for your connections, as I become available to do so. I the mean time, if you choose try to reach out to TGS President John Tower, or Dave Tower (contact info on the website) for their ability to access the archived Tower Genealogy Database.     • Hi Bruce, I was able to verify that you are indeed a descendant to our originator John Tower. You are a descendant thru Johns son Jeremiah, Jeremiah II, Peter, Peter II…. I will add you into my tree on Ancestry, and then, will gladly share with you the information I locate with you.

      You are eligible for membership in The Tower Genealogical Society, and I will share your lineage to John tower with the other officers and board members as soon as possible. Please stay in touch! I look forward to our correspondences.
